The Institute for Sports, Physical Education and Health Sciences offers provision for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The successful candidate will join a thriving institute with over 40 members of staff and around 900 students UG, PGT and PGR , with wide-ranging interests and a developing research profile. The Institute can be found at the Holyrood campus within Moray House School of Education at the University of Edinburgh.

We wish to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Fellow to join a committed staff team in the Institute. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching on both the MSc Dance Science & Education and Physical Education degrees.

It is essential that the successful candidate will be able to make significant contribution to the practical elements of these course as well as having and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the scientific and pedagogical theory that informs performance, the technical teaching of dance and dance within education. It is important that the candidate has a performance and teaching profile within classical ballet, of at least national or European significance, and a commitment to contribute to courses that bridge dance performance and education. Previous work experience within Higher Education and the ability to transfer aspects of theory to practice are essential. A further specialism in one or more of the following would be desirable: classical and contemporary dance repertoire, creative movement; choreographic practices and curriculum design for dance.

It is desired that the successful candidate will have completed or be undertaking Doctoral level study, it is also desired that the candidate will have published and contributed to conferences in his/her field.

Salary: £32,004 - £38,183 per annum, pro rata.
