Research Assistant – Protein Production

The SGC (Structural Genomics Consortium) is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant primarily to provide protein production support for SGC projects for screening of compound libraries and crystallisation trials.

In your role as Research Assistant, you will have excellent knowledge and experience of expressing proteins in bacterial and/or baculoviral or mammalian systems, and of protein purification from large scale cultures. Additionally, you will contribute to the Biotech cloning and expression screening pipeline, working as part of a team with multiple milestones. You will liaise closely with other SGC groups and industrial collaborators, therefore effective written and oral communication is essential.

You will hold a BSc degree or equivalent experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or chemistry and have the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Familiarity with MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and able to learn other software packages would be essential.
