Research Associate on Large-Scale Probabilistic Databases

University of Oxford - Department of Computer Science

A 3 month, full-time Research Associate position is available in the area of Large-Scale Probabilistic Databases. Working with Professor Thomas Lukasiewicz and his research group, you will be responsible for carrying out research towards enhancing large-scale probabilistic databases by more realistic data models, while preserving their computational properties.

The post holder will especially develop different semantics for the resulting probabilistic databases, analyse their computational properties, and design practical scalable query answering algorithms for them. The post holder will also provide guidance to junior members of the research group, including PhD students, MSc students, and/or project volunteers.

The post holder will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion), together with relevant experience and will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project and of actively collaborating in the development of research articles for publication is desirable.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Thursday 24th August.
