Statistician (Research Assistant/Associate)

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary range will be Grade 6B - £29,809 - £31,432 per annum or Grade 7 £34,056 - £41,163 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Medical Research Council’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) at UCL is one of the UK’s leading centres for clinical research. It conducts national and international clinical trials, meta-analyses and epidemiological studies in cancer and infectious diseases (particularly HIV and TB) and other health care areas. It has also become part of a national network of eight regional Hubs for Trials Methodology Research, established by the MRC, to develop new and improved methods for the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials..

We are looking for a Statistician to join us, working on national and international clinical trials within the Cancer Theme.

You will be expected to provide statistical advice, analyse observational data, prepare and present reports and develop statistical analysis plans.

This position is funded for 2 years in the first instance.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Practical experience in observational studies, clinical trials or related work.
  • Good understanding of statistical concepts.
  • An MSc or PhD in Medical Statistics (or closely related subject) or a BSc in Statistics.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Research st aff who hold a PhD in the subject will be appointed on a minimum of grade 7. Please note that research staff that do not have a PhD in the subject will be appointed on Grade 6B and will have the title Research Assistant.
