We seek an enthusiastic, highly-motivated, and computationally-adept biologist to generate and analyse transcriptomics data from a study of extracellular vesicles derived from apoptotic cells. In particular, we wish to understand the small RNA (e.g. microRNA) components of these vesicles, and to define and analyse the loading of RNAs into these vesicles, and the functional roles that specific RNAs might play. You will be responsible for generating libraries for small RNA deep sequencing, liaising with the sequencing team, and for all downstream analysis of the RNA sequencing data. You will use state-of-the-art computational tools to map reads, identify microRNAs, understand RNA expression levels, and to predict the functional roles of specific RNAs. You will join a multi-disciplinary team, and will collaborate actively with researchers in computational biology, genetics and molecular biology.

You should have (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD qualification in a biological science, and a strong interest in computational biology and RNAs. You will have experience of genome and transcriptome data analysis, an understanding of how to use bioinformatics to solve biological problems, and experience of programming in Python, Perl, R or other high level language. Excellent communication skills are essential.
