Postdoctoral Positions Investigating SUMO Conjugation in DNA Repair.

University of Birmingham - School/Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences

Full Time, Fixed Term for 60 months.

Positions are available to join a new Wellcome Trust funded research team, headed by Prof Jo Morris, investigating the role of the small protein, SUMO, in the way cells repair DNA. In these posts how the SUMO conjugation machinery behaves in cells will be investigated.

You will have evidence in two or more of the following:

  • Demonstrable expertise and evidence of productivity in the investigation of protein function in mammalian cells.
  • Experience in using immunofluorescence and generating stable mammalian cell lines or handling mouse ES lines.
  • An understanding of mammalian DNA double-strand break repair or replication stress biology
  • Demonstrable expertise and evidence of productivity in the generation and analysis of proteins and protein activity.
  • Understanding of small modifier post-translational modification enzymology.
