The MRC Epidemiology Unit is seeking to appoint a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator to work across our laboratory research teams.

This position is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus where the primary role will be to support the NIHR BRC-MRC BioRepository providing first and second line end-user support alongside configuration and maintenance tasks.  The LIMS covers the full life cycle of laboratory activity across all studies, enables the delivery of accurate results and effective decision making from the preparation of samples to the analysis of results.

The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department within the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine and is situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Its mission is to study the genetic, developmental and environmental factors that cause obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and develop strategies for their prevention. The NIHR BRC-MRC BioRepository provides research support for studies and trials collecting, processing and storing thousands of human tissue samples across a wide research portfolio.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific background or have equivalent practical experience. We are looking for someone who has technical knowledge and an aptitude for software development, an ability to troubleshoot technical difficulties and strong client communication skills. Previous experience of working in a research laboratory is desirable though not essential.
