Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice

Reading School of Pharmacy is seeking a dynamic, innovative lecturer to contribute to the development of high-impact research and teaching. Established in 2004, the School provides a fully accredited Master of Pharmacy programme. Nearly 90% of our research was rated as ‘internationally excellent’ by the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) and our performance on impact was also impressive. We are ranked 6th for Pharmacy in the UK and our pre-registration students perform well in the national registration exams.

We are looking for a lecturer who will focus on research that relates to pharmacy practice or pedagogy. The post-holder would be expected to develop and maintain strong research networks within the NHS and other health providers, working collaboratively at local, national and international level.

This will include working with our existing network of external partners through our Academic Pharmacy Units within Berkshire and Oxford. The post-holder will be expected to secure and maintain grant funding, contribute to our successful PhD portfolio and produce high-impact publication outputs. We particularly call for applications from those with research expertise in sociological / psychological / statistical methods applied to the study of health services and medicines use or health education as well as those with expertise in clinical pharmacy, health psychology, pharmacy education, human factors, or public health.

You will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Pharmacy.
  • GPhC Registered Pharmacist status (or equivalent EU professional qualification)
  • Experience of tutoring/training healthcare staff and/or students.
  • Ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy practice and recent developments in UK healthcare and priorities for pharmacy education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible attitude towards work.
