Vehicle Systems Engineer (KTP Associate)

This post is available for 2 years from September 2017 and will support the work of Prof Chris Smith, Dr Prathyush Menon, Prof John Powell and a KTP programme which is a partnership between University of Exeter and SC Group Ltd.

SC Group Ltd is an innovative engineering and design company providing global, defence focussed products and services with offices in the UK and Australia.

The successful candidate will work closely with both the company and academic staff to develop new drivetrain, control and associated ancillary systems for a new hybrid-drive high mobility all-terrain vehicle. The intention is that this platform will operate in harsh off-road environments commensurate with SC Group’s existing products and with the intention of fulfilling roles within future defence and civilian applications.

The successful applicant will be able to quickly learn information and skills from research and professional sources, to design new and/or adapt existing systems such as hybrid-drive and control systems, and communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically.

Applicants will possess a BEng, MEng or Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Control Engineering or related discipline and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of automotive systems and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.

The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively with professional engineers and others in the company and with academics in the university, to supervise the work of others, and act as team leader as required.
