SELCS Undergraduate Administrative Assistant

University College London - School of European Languages, Culture and Society

Part Time: 18.25 hours per week (50%FTE)

SELCS is made up of the Departments of Dutch, French, German, Italian, Scandinavian Studies, Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies and the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTras). The School Administrative Team (including the role-holder) is responsible for the efficient management of all administration within SELCS, including student admissions and course administration, examinations, finance and staffing.

The post holder will be responsible for providing efficient and professional administrative support to the SELCS central undergraduate administrative team, currently made up of the SELCS Undergraduate Officer (current students), the SELCS Undergraduate Officer (Year Abroad and Affiliates) and the SELCS Admissions and Undergraduate Officer (known hereafter as Undergraduate Officers). This post will assist in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, as well as to SELCS teaching staff.

The post is fixed term for 12 months.

The role will include support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of current students, as well as events for prospective students, incorporating supporting processes relating to attendance and assessment, ensuring that all information provided to students on Moodle sites and website is up-to-date and accurate.

The role holder must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL, thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined. The SELCS Undergraduate Office is often very busy, and the role holder must be able to multi-task and work effectively with interruptions during the day.

We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within UCL at this level.

This position does not meet the resident labour market test under UK Visas and Immigration rules and therefore UCL would be unable to obtain the right to work for non-EEA nationals whose employment would require a Tier 2 visa.
