Weekend Library Supervisor

We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication and team working skills for this key post to lead a weekend team of library assistants and attendants to provide high quality frontline services at the University Library during weekend daytimes and Friday evenings.

Key responsibilities for this role will be providing responses to user enquiries, ensuring efficient and speedy circulation of stock and monitoring safety and security for all those in the Library during these staffed services hours.

You will have:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) for team working, staff supervision and customer care.
  • Knowledge of library management systems, particularly for managing circulation of materials, and good IT skills.
  • Experience of working in a library and dealing with library users.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work independently without close supervision and to take appropriate initiative when necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to cover for the weekend supervisor on Sundays, as required.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities at work.
  • Education to A level standard or equivalent.
