Research Associate (Statistics)

Hours: 1.0 FTE (we will consider applications from job share applicants).
Basis: Fixed-term contract for 18 months.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit with the aim to support research and knowledge transfer activities of the Faculty of Health & Wellbeing. The Research Associate (Statistics) will work on research projects, performing data management and statistical analysis, and then reporting the research findings in a variety of formats to different audiences, all under the supervision of the projects’ lead statisticians. The post holder will also be expected to contribute ideas and/or enhancement of techniques or methodologies relevant to the project or which will be likely to lead to associated methodological research.

The successful applicant will need to hold MSc in medical statistics, epidemiology, statistics (with medical statistics options), or a related subject. They will be a Royal Statistical Society Graduate or have Chartered Statistician (Gradstat or Cstat) status (or be willing to make application on appointment).

Experience in working with professionals from health-related disciplines and in collaborating with and delivering statistics services to research teams is essential, as is experience of working in a relevant area of research. The successful applicant will also have produced written research reports involving presentation of summary and inferential statistics.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are core requirements for this position, as are good written report writing skills. The successful applicant will also possess planning, organisational skills, and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
