Research Assistant - Biochemical and Cellular Characterisation of Histone Demethylases

The Department of Chemistry is looking for a Research Assistant with expertise in recombinant protein production and enzyme assays, to work under the supervision of Professor Christopher Schofield and Dr Akane Kawamura. This post is funded by Cancer Research UK grant and involves biochemical and structural studies of histone demethylases.

You will have responsibility for the management of your own research and administrative activities as well as contributing to wider project planning including ideas for new research projects. You will be a highly motivated scientist to join our interdisciplinary team.

You will be educated to Master's level in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical biology or a related subject. Have extensive experience in recombinant protein production, molecular biology, microbiology, or enzymology/inhibitor screening and be willing to learn new techniques as required.  

The post requires you to work with minimum supervision but also be able to work well within a team. You will have excellent organisation, communication and numeracy skills.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford
