Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre - Product Evaluation and Testing Unit

Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre requires a graduate with a good engineering or physics degree with an interest in electronics and control systems.  The vacancy is within our Product Evaluation and Testing Unit and the work is directed towards the development of testing facilities and consultancy services; primarily on the performance evaluation of rubber engineering products including tyres and structural bearings.

Desirable attributes are:

  • Mechatronics or electronic engineering. Knowledge of process control systems using LabVIEW is preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems and appreciation of scientific research and its role to this end.
  • Motivation to produce results and to maintain and enhance an efficient working environment.
  • Good team work and communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Tasks are likely to include:

  • Commissioning, operating, maintaining and enhancing mechanical and hydraulic test facilities and associated equipment.
  • Design of test rigs including control and data logging systems.
  • Performance evaluation of tyres on a range of testing rigs
  • Characterisation tests on rubber components.
  • Writing quotations and reports for external clients.
  • Maintaining Quality Procedures and for TARRC’s tyre testing services.  
  • Working with materials and engineering research team to promote our capabilities for testing and contract research through publications, presentations and contact with clients.
