Senior Software Developer

Temporary contract until 31 July 2019

The Open University is a world leader in the use of multiple media in distance education. The Learning and Teaching Innovation team develops the content that supports our students as they learn. We are looking to recruit a software developer to work with academic colleagues and other team members (in learning design, editing, graphics, video, etc) to develop high quality web-based activities that actively engage our students.

You will work as part of a creative team through the full development lifecycle of specification, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment and maintenance. You will be educated to degree level (or can demonstrate suitable experience) and have expertise in a broad range of software development techniques with an emphasis on modern web development practices.

You will have a strong desire to use your skills to deliver world-leading educational activities. A willingness to further develop those skills to extend our activities into emerging technologies in mobile and other innovative areas is essential, as are communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
