Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Public Health (Health Systems and Public Policy)

Applications are invited for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer full-time confirmation path position in Public Health (Health Systems and Public Policy) in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Appointment level will be determined by qualifications and experience.

At the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine we work to understand why some people are healthy and some are not, how to prevent illness and injury, how people's health can be improved through working with communities, how political systems and health organisations affect health, and other issues relating to the health of populations. 

The Role
The successful applicant will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of health systems, health policy and public health offered by the Department. Supervision of postgraduate research students at Master’s and PhD level is also part of this role. Candidates will be expected to develop an independent and productive research programme. 

Skills and Experience 

  • PhD degree in an applicable area related to health is essential.
  • Proven track record in research that is commensurate with the level of appointment.
  • Experience in teaching at tertiary level.
  • Experience with paper development would be desirable (but not essential).
