Outreach and Widening Participation Support Officer (Criminology or Psychology 0.5 FTE)

This is a unique opportunity to raise the awareness of the importance of studying Psychology or Criminology at the University of Gloucestershire while undertaking a Masters or MPhil/PhD (*Dependent on qualifications). Joining the Outreach and Widening Participation team, you will help deliver a range of activities and events to raise awareness of and aspiration to HE, as well as activities to highlight the University of Gloucestershire specifically. You will have exceptional communication skills, coupled with an enthusiastic and self-motivated demeanour. You will be a champion for your subject area and engage in further study alongside your role either at Level 7 or Level 8. Using your initiative, being passionate and being a problem solver is also deemed to be key qualities for the role.

The School of Natural and Social Sciences specialise in working on some of the world's most pressing issues. The school has an excellent reputation for the quality of teaching, learning and research.

As an Outreach and WP Support Officer (Psychology or Criminology) you will

  • Act as a champion for studying your subject at university
  • Actively engage with your subject area by undertaking further study at level 7 or 8.
  • Work closely with the School of Natural and Social Sciences and Outreach Team to convey key messages and deliver exciting and relevant resources, workshops and presentations.
  • Build and maintain a network of subject specific contacts
  • Visit schools and colleges in Gloucestershire and beyond

The role involves significant travel and you will liaise with a variety of academic staff both at the university and in colleges. You will be required to have multiple base sites within the university and at our temporary offices within Cheltenham. This is an important role for the University and training and support is available.

The post will be permanent and include the opportunity to undertake a study at Level 7 and/or Level 8 with the course fees funded by the University.
