The role

We need you to provide high quality administrative and secretarial support to the Vice-Provost and Executive Director (VPED), and the Senior Management Team (SMT).

Your duties will include:

  • Outlook diary management for the VPED and Academic Director (AD)
  • Organising meetings on behalf of the VPED and AD
  • Minute taking at meetings when requested
  • Making travel arrangements for the VPED and AD
  • Assisting the VPED and SMT with administration on special projects and event planning
  • Supporting the Special Projects Officer with administration of events
  • Supporting the BISC communications team with basic day to day management of the website
  • Acting as back-up support to the Administration Office Manager and Academic Secretary.

Who you are

Essentially you are/have:

  • Educated to minimum A-Level standard/BTEC or equivalent, including GCSE, or equivalent, in English and Maths
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of competence with Outlook and Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrable experience of assisting a senior manager
  • Experience of managing a busy workload and prioritising to meet deadlines
  • Experience of working on confidential matters and maintaining a high degree of discretion
  • Flexible approach and able to multi-task or switch tasks quickly whilst maintaining focus
  • Happy working in a team as well as unsupervised and using you own initiative.

Bader International Study Centre (BISC), located at historic Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex, is the international study centre of Queen’s University (Canada). It provides exceptional academic programmes for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students as well as serving as a venue for international conferences and meetings. It is a registered charity. Its wholly owned trading subsidiary, Herstmonceux Castle Enterprises Limited, is responsible for running the gardens and grounds, corporate events and other functions including weddings.
