This post is based within the Play in Education, Development and Learning research group within the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, and will provide research support and leadership for a longitudinal project exploring the measurement of play and its association with social-emotional development (comprising theory-of-mind understanding, emotion understanding and social competence) in early school-aged children. Key features of this study are the inclusion of multiple measure of children's play and social cognition, and the use of detailed observations of children's peer interactions. You will primarily contribute to the drafting of research publications by undertaking data analysis and literature reviewing. In addition, this role will involve some behavioural coding and data collection for the final wave of a longitudinal study.

You will need a PhD, and a working knowledge of different statistical packages, and will have excellent organisational and writing skills. You will be comfortable working with children and teachers, and will work as part of a team of at least three researchers led by Dr Jenny Gibson.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 May 2018 in the first instance.
