We seek to recruit a talented post doctoral Research Associate (Epidemiology) with a background in ageing, cognition and nutrition to join an exciting new NIHR funded Global Health Programme on dementia which brings together UK researchers with teams in Tanzania, India and Malaysia.

The post will involve working on several projects that would suit a researcher interested in gaining experience in ageing/methodological research.

The projects comprise:

  1. Identification of key risk factors for dementia in low and middle income country settings and development of simple models for identifying persons at highest risk of future dementia
  2. Assisting with the development and piloting of a nutritional intervention for reducing risk of future dementia in older age participants in Malaysia.

You will have a PhD in social sciences, psychology or a health related field. You will have experience of undertaking systematic reviews and collection/analysing quantitative data. You will have experience of working with statistical databases to facilitate data analysis and evidence of successful publication in peer reviewed journals. You will have access to ageing cohort study data from Tanzania, India and Malaysia. There will also be opportunities to establish new collaborations with academic partners in the UK as well as abroad.

The post is tenable from 1st January 2018 for 12 months in the first instance.

Please be advised that due to a new minimum salary threshold of £30,000 per annum imposed by the UKVI, this post may not qualify for University sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system.
