University of Oxford - Medical Sciences Division

The Oxford BioEscalator will be a brand new, purpose-built facility on the Old Road Campus, right alongside some of the University's major medical research institutes. It will be a leading international centre for the commercial exploitation of bioscience and medical research and innovation. The vision is to help more innovative ideas to move out of the lab and into the clinic and in doing so to realise the potential of the world-class research and expertise in Oxford.

The role of Business Manager for the BioEscalator provides an exciting opportunity to take forward the operational, commercial and financial management of the BioEscalator. The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to develop this new venture while managing complex working relationships with senior academics and administrators, the BioEscalator’s tenants, as well as external partners including government departments, national facilities, industry and academic institutions. You will have strong intellectual and analytical skills, together with excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing) and the capacity to deal effectively with a range of complex issues in a University environment. Along with a good honours degree ideally in a science subject, or equivalent experience, you will also have experience in financial management, business planning, budgetary responsibility and the management of commercial activities. Good project management skills, a proven ability to lead a team plus the ability to gain the trust and confidence of people at all levels, both within and outside Oxford, are also essential.

This is a fixed-term post for 3 years. Full-time or a minimum of 80% FTE considered.

Applicants will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of the online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 25 August 2017. Interviews are scheduled for 8 September 2017.
