Research Associate

University College London - UCL Research Department of Cell and Developmental Biology

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scientist to work with Professor Patricia Salinas and Dr Alasdair Gibb on a project aimed at unravelling the function of Wnt signalling in synaptic plasticity.

Wnt proteins play a crucial role in the formation of neuronal connections but little is known about their role in synaptic transmission. The project is focused on the role of Wnt signalling in synaptic transmission and plasticity in the hippocampus.

The applicant will use a range of electrophysiological and cellular approaches and will have access to state-of-the art imaging facilities.

The post is funded by the MRC until 30th April 2019.

You will hold a PhD, MD, MB, or equivalent in a relevant subject area and you will be interested in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate the synaptic transmission, and ideally have research expertise in cellular electrophysiology. Experience in cell imagining techniques would also be advantageous.

Applicants should apply online. To access further details about the position and how to apply please click on the ‘Apply’ button below.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Patricia Salinas (email:, telephone: 020 76796577).
