Centre Administrator (Maternity Cover)

University College London - Computer Science (CoMPLEX)

CoMPLEX is a centre of excellence for interdisciplinary research, bringing together computer scientists, mathematicians, physical scientists and engineers with life and medical scientists. CoMPLEX’s main activity is to run an MRes in "Modelling Biological Complexity", in addition to two MPhil/PhD programmes, one from an EPSRC CDT in biological complexity and a second programme in artificial intelligence and neuroscience. We currently have 8 MRes students and 45 research students.

CoMPLEX are recruiting a Centre Administrator to cover the maternity leave of the current post holder. The post holder will be responsible for managing the operations, finance and administration of CoMPLEX to support its teaching and research, as well as assisting the Centre Director with planning its development and providing support for the student body. The post is a fixed-term maternity cover for 9 months.

The post holder should be educated to A-level standard or have equivalent experience and will have previously worked in a higher education environment.

The post holder must have the ability to work proactively and efficiently, balancing many demands with great attention to detail.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, high-level numeracy skills, IT proficiency at a high user level, a highly organised and professional approach to work are essential.

Experience working with financial systems and managing budgets is essential as a major research grant will be closing early in 2018. Experience of working with research grants is therefore highly desirable.
