This new full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 30th September 2020.

The appointment is on Scale G, on a scale from GBP 41,709.

Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) brings new focus to collaborative working with external, non-university partners to drive place-based innovation.  Its key aim is to secure significantly greater income and impact from relationships with external organisations drawing on the University's education, research and physical assets.  This includes curriculum development, skills, research collaboration and commercial partnerships.

We are looking for a dynamic team-player to collaborate with seven partner organisations (The University of Exeter, University of Plymouth, Met Office, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Plymouth College of Art, Exeter City Futures and Rothamsted Research) who have come together to create an innovation ecosystem to enable SMEs to create new products and services in two of our Local Enterprise Partnership's Smart Specialisation sectors - 'Environmental Futures' and 'Big Data Smart'. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a small team of staff with expertise in business / innovation support, marketing & communications, events, and project administration.
  • Creating and managing an 'Impact Lab', a collaborative work space where SMEs can draw on the expertise of seven partner organisations.
  • Managing a GBP 1.5m Challenge Fund, ensure compliance with EU programme requirements and co-ordinating activities of the seven partner organisations delivering this GBP 6.4m project.

You will be an experienced project manager, excited at the prospect delivering a flagship growth initiative for the region. You will have budgeting and planning skills; a track-record of managing of large multi-partner projects; the ability to achieve buy-in to your ideas and to influence business and academics. You will have experience of people management, team-building, working independently and delivering on high expectations.
