Agri-Systems Modeller

Rothamsted Research

Overview Of Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a suitably experienced individual to join our team as an Agricultural Systems Modeller.

This is an 18-month contract with the possibility of extension depending on funding which will enable us to complete work on the response of crops to fertiliser N in the presence or absence of organic amendments to soil, and also to initiate work on the modelling of Livestock and Dairy production in the landscape.  The latter activities will focus on tradeoffs between environmental externalities and production at different scales.

The successful candidate should be able to work flexibly across more than one project that is delivering to similar aims and will have knowledge of UK and temperate agricultural systems as well as being a competent mathematical modeller with experience of using C++, Fortran or platforms such as MATLAB.  Experience of working with social scientists and the use of Bayesian Belief networks would be a particular advantage.

The successful candidate will be willing to travel internationally for short periods.

Interviews will be held: 29/08/2017
