Postgraduate Research Assistant: The Effect of Offshore Wind on the Human Environment

This post is within the School of the Built Environment, a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment with a strong tradition of excellence in teaching and research and strong industry links in the professional fields of urban design and planning, real estate and construction. You will be working as part of the project team undertaking a research project to explore 'The Effect of Offshore Wind on the Human Environment' which is funded through the EOWDC Research Programme.

This is a 0.5fte post for two years (24 months)

You will be responsible for:

  • undertaking evaluation of environmental statements using methodology and framework established collaboratively by the project team
  • gathering data from multiple sources including research participants, local and national government reports, websites, newspapers, social media
  • contributing to analysis and evaluation of data
  • conducting literature searches as appropriate
  • managing the project website
  • assisting in the preparation of reports and publications
  • liaising as appropriate to facilitate research e.g. with external partners, stakeholders and colleagues.

You should have:

  • a first degree in spatial planning or a related discipline and/or a post-graduate degree in environmental assessment
  • experience of undertaking research in environmental assessment
  • familiarity with the Environmental Impact Assessment process and evaluation of Environmental Statements
  • ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships
  • experience of successfully working as part of a multi-professional team
  • good communication, IT and organisational skills
  • the ability to manage own workload and deliver projects on time.
