Administrative Officer

Queen Mary University of London - School of Geography

We are looking to recruit an Administrative Officer to work within the world-leading School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London, to provide professional and comprehensive administrative support for teaching and learning matters. This will include coursework administration, support of e-learning activities with the School’s QMPlus, utilising best practices to maintain the standards of student QMPlus experience; acting as a first point of contact for the School and diary management for the Head of School. The role holder would be expected to create a welcoming and friendly environment and uphold the reputation of the School at all times.

You will be educated to GSCE level (or equivalent) with Maths and English at grades A-C, and have student administration experience in Higher Education. Experience of working in a customer facing role dealing with first line enquiries and responding to non-routine enquiries, the ability to follow policies and procedures and a keen eye for detail, accuracy and precision, whilst providing a high standard of service, are also essential. Applicants should have strong IT skills with the ability to effectively use student records and e-learning systems, and a working knowledge of Higher Education Institution systems such as MySIS and QMPlus would be desirable.

The role holder would be expected to carry out activities in a professional, business-like, collegial and transparent manner and be sympathetic to the aims of the academic enterprise as well as the demands facing academic staff and students in contemporary higher education.

The post is full time and permanent, starting from mid-September or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be £26,270 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
