Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for the above position to join the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The PEMC group has undergone a signficant period of growth and now has over 130 members, with 18 Academics (including 6 full professors) and approximately 100 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows.

The successful candidate will undertake research in VSC-HVDC systems - and specifically on high power density Modular Multilevel Converters. Research will be focused on new conversion topologies, and will include extensive theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental validation.

Candidates must have a PhD (or be near completion) or equivalent research experience in Modular Multi-level Converter technologies, where the developed skills in theoretical analysis, modelling, control and practical implementation of such converters. Research experience in the analysis of the energy management and AC (three phase) and DC grid interface control strategies for such converters is also required. 

It is also expected that the candidates will demonstrate high level communication and organisational skills and an aptitude for dissemination of results in international conferences and journals.

This full-time post will be offered on a fixed term for a period of 12 months.
