Postdoctoral Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join the Jack Birch Unit, based in the Department of Biology at the University of York.

The main purpose of the role is to conduct high quality research under the supervision of senior colleagues on a project that will investigate interstitial cystitis - a poorly-understood chronic inflammatory condition that affects the bladder resulting in pelvic pain and urinary dysfunction.  

You will contribute to the production of research output and assist with the development of the research programme, including contributing to the building of a strong collaboration between the different internal and external team members.

You will have a strong first degree in Molecular Cell Biology or related subject and a PhD in human biology and disease, ideally with molecular genetics or transcriptomics component, or equivalent experience. You should be knowledgeable and experienced in the planning, conduct, analysis, validation and publication of high quality research, evidenced by publication. We would be particularly interested in candidates experienced in transcriptomic (RNAseq) studies, ideally as applied to clinical samples. You should be enthusiastic and have the organisation skills to help co-ordinate a cross-site, multi-disciplinary team.

This is a full time position and the project is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

The post is offered in the Grade 6 scale of £31,076 to £38,183 per annum.
