Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in left-wing populism in contemporary Britain? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

You will work under the direction of Dr Jonathan Dean on a project entitled ‘Exploring Left-wing Populism in an Age of Anti-Politics’ funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The aim of the project is to theorise and map the character, scope and significance of left-wing populism in contemporary Britain.

The principal objective of the role is to undertake the bulk of the day to day research on the project in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Dean, as well as co-investigator Dr. Bice Maiguashca from the University of Exeter. You will be based in the Social Sciences Building within the School of Politics and International Studies and be required normally to have presence in the School across the week as part of being an active researcher.

With a successfully completed PhD (or about to submit) in a relevant field of study, you will have expertise in left-wing politics in Britain; and knowledge and experience of a range of qualitative social science research methods. Demonstrating evidence of an ability to produce published outputs of the highest quality, you will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of tasks to set deadlines. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team is essential, along with strong organisational skills.
