International Public Relations Officer

Queen Mary University of London - Directorate of Marketing & Communications

We are seeking an experienced International PR Officer to join our Marketing and Communications Directorate.

Based in the PR team at our Mile End campus, this post works with the Head of PR to manage Queen Mary’s brand and reputation, communicating our strengths and innovation in research, teaching and public engagement to a global audience.

A media relations specialist, you will have strong newsgathering skills, excellent contacts, and a substantial record of securing print and broadcast coverage across a range of global news outlets. Foreign language skills and an understanding of higher education and research would also be an advantage.

The ability to write compelling copy for different audiences is a must, as is experience of creating digital content and using social media to build engagement.

You will have strong inter-personal and presentation skills, and will be confident dealing with senior management and academics at all levels. You will be the communications lead for our overseas partners and offices, coordinating communications activity in these areas, highlighting our key international collaborations and partnerships.

Working alongside the PR Officer (UK) you will also be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day PR activity, including monitoring our news coverage, writing news releases, updating our media centre and managing our corporate social media channels.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, confident individual, and able to work under their own initiative.
