Lecturer in Computer Science

Aberystwyth University - Mauritius Branch Campus

Following its successful launch in October 2015, Aberystwyth University Mauritius Branch Campus is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Computer Science to join its existing faculty.

Successful candidates will gain a unique opportunity to contribute to the establishment and growth of the campus. The post is based in Mauritius and successful candidates will be expected to arrive in the first week of October 2017 (if not already resident in Mauritius).

Applicants should:

  • Be qualified to PhD level (or Masters level with relevant professional or academic experience);
  • Have a good degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other cognate subject;
  • Have the ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules across a range of computing topics. We would particularly welcome applicants with an interest in teaching Web Design and Development, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or Software Engineering;
  • Have familiarity with using Java, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming using C++, Database Systems, Agile Methodologies, E-Commerce Applications and Security and Web Development;
  • Be an effective communicator with the ability to explain complex topics to students;
  • Be willing to work as part of a larger team to deliver a high quality student experience;
  • Have experience of teaching in UK higher education or be able to demonstrate the ability to do so.
