Scientific Writer

Queen Mary University of London - Barts Cancer Institute

Applications are sought for a Scientific Writer at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The postholder will help develop and deliver the Institute’s internal and external communications strategy, to support the Institute’s strategic priorities and objectives. They will act as the link between the Institute’s researchers and Centres, and between the Institute and the public. The post holder will proactively seek out information and research stories that are topical and relevant.

Candidates must have a BSc (Hons) degree (or equivalent) in a science related subject and a knowledge and understanding of cancer and cancer biology. A postgraduate scientific degree or a relevant professional qualification would be desirable. Excellent writing skills with a proven ability to source copy and articulate messages clearly and concisely for digital marketing channels is essential. Experience of managing social media channels in a professional setting and experience of using and managing content within web CMS is also desirable.

The post is full time and fixed term for a period of 36 months. Starting salary will be in the range £32,405 - £38,062 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
