Institutional Sustainability Manager

Higher Education Funding Council for Wales - HEFCW

HEFCW is recruiting for an Institutional Sustainability Manager working within the Institutional Engagement team.  You will manage HEFCW’s processes for monitoring Higher Education institutions’ financial performance and sustainability; and for providing assurance to HEFCW’s Council and Accounting Officer on each institution’s governance and framework of controls.  This will include the analysis of financial statements, forecasts and other data, including annual audit returns, and the preparation of reports for HEFCW’s Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and Council.  You will work with HEFCW colleagues to coordinate analysis and reporting, cross-checking the consistency of financial assumptions with information held by other teams.

You will need to be educated to degree level (or equivalent), and be a CCAB qualified accountant (or hold an equivalent professional qualification) with substantial post qualification experience in a financial analysis role. You will be a team player, who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with HEFCW colleagues, institution staff at all levels; and with professional advisors to the sector, including internal and external auditors. You will also have the ability to work independently to produce reports, sometimes to tight deadlines, with minimal guidance. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and at the same time be able to see the big picture. Strong communication, numeracy and IT skills are essential. The ability to communicate bilingually in Welsh or English is desirable.
