The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama - Student Advice Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the counselling service within the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’s Student Advice Service. The Student Advice Service provides the student population with a range of non-academic support services, including accommodation support, money advice and counselling. As a Student Counsellor you will work within a small, dynamic counselling team which delivers the School’s counselling service.

This is a new post and the post holder will manage a 1:1 clinical workload, create and deliver workshops to groups of students, which is a new initiative, and pro-actively contribute to other new initiatives to build on the success of this vital and valued service. The post holder will also supervise a group of volunteer Associate Counsellors.

Applicants must hold a professional counselling qualification and have, or be eligible for, BACP or UKCP Accreditation along with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification counselling experience. Applicants must have experience of working within a time-limited model, counselling students from diverse backgrounds, providing clinical supervision, and creating and delivering student workshops. Experience or knowledge and understanding of the particular needs of students in a small and specialist theatre arts school is an advantage.

Candidates must be available to work on Wednesdays and Fridays and one evening a week throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will arrange their own external supervision, which will be funded by Central.
