Research Associate in Infrastructure Project Innovation

The Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management is one of the world’s leading academic centres of excellence in the management of projects and construction economics. The School seeks to appoint a Research Associate in Infrastructure Project Innovation who will carry out research in the context of a new ESRC-funded project.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop a novel methodological framework in the context of infrastructure project studies; conduct extensive data collection; liaise with project partners; develop research reports; contribute to the preparation and drafting of follow-up research bids in relevant areas; present findings of research activity to colleagues; contribute to the overall activities of the academic team and department as required; participate in departmental and faculty seminars; contribute to teaching activities; maintain research records; and participate in departmental and faculty research administration activities.

Available from September 2017, the post is funded for a period of 2 years in the first instance.

The appointee is required to have a good bachelor’s degree (minimum of 2:1); and a PhD (or nearing substantial completion) in management, organization, design studies, innovation studies, sociology, law, economics (all in the setting of infrastructure) or in the built environment and project management disciplines (with strong emphasis on social science research methods). The successful candidate will also need to have knowledge of social research methods – in particular qualitative case – and process-based research and set-theoretic methods, and of project studies as a research domain, especially infrastructure and project-based settings; together with demonstrable skills in research and analysis.
