Assistant Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a part-time Assistant Laboratory Manager (40% - 60% FTE) to support the Technology Centre in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Headington) in the Department of Engineering Science that is directed by Professors Zhanfeng Cui and Cathy Ye. The post is funded by China Regenerative Medicine International (CRMI) and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance. The working hours need to be spread over 5 days a week.

On-going projects in the Technology Centre are using an engineering approach to develop technologies that will facilitate stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine.

You will be responsible for managing the group’s laboratories by providing general assistance to the lab manager and research staff. You will maintain general stocks and supplies, deal with deliveries, ensure that the laboratories are kept clean and tidy, manage the group’s chemical library, book and chase orders, maintain health and safety records (COSHH forms, training records, risk assessments, SOPs etc.) and identify and rectify problems with experimental equipment.

Educated to GCSE level, you will have experience of laboratory practice. Experience of using a financial procurement system, up-to-date knowledge of laboratory health and safety regulations and the ability to multi-task and prioritise your workload are also essential.
