The Institute of Astronomy is seeking to appoint an Astronomy Outreach Assistant. The successful candidate will be employed to assist the Public Astronomer (Dr Carolin Crawford) in the delivery of an active astronomy educational outreach programme at the Institute of Astronomy. The post holder will support, develop and deliver outreach activities designed to engage a wide audience with astronomy - particularly school pupils, community groups, and the general public. The role will include working with research students and staff in the Institute to co-ordinate and manage outreach events, and to produce resources for use by others. The main outreach events in the year are: weekly Public Open Evenings from October-March; evening visits from various community groups during the Winter season; astronomy talks and day-time visits from school classes during the school year; the Cambridge Science Festival in March.

The post holder will also contribute to the ongoing development of scientific and educational content for the IoA website for a range of audiences (public to professional scientist), assist with the preparation of press releases published on the website and elsewhere and provide administrative support for the IoA's annual academic conference during the summer.
