Research Assistant in Organisational Psychology

University of Leeds - Faculty of Business

Are you an early career researcher looking for your first challenge? Do you have a background in a behavioural discipline, preferably organizational psychology, organizational behaviour, social psychology, and/or human factors? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Socio-Technical Centre (STC)at Leeds University Business School to work on a research project examining the implementation of a new business process in Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s leading aerospace engineering companies. This is an exciting opportunity to gain applied research experience within one of the UK’s best known companies and to be part of a vibrant research community within the Socio-Technical Centre.

The project is one strand of a wider research programme which will consider the issues around process implementation from different disciplinary perspectives (e.g., psychology, engineering, computer science). This particular research project will focus on the human and organizational aspects of the implementation, drawing largely on the disciplines of organizational psychology and human factors. We envisage that a variety of research methods will be used, including observation, interviews, and both primary and secondary quantitative data collection and analysis.

You will have a first degree, masters or doctoral degree in a behavioural discipline, along with experience of conducting quantitative research and experience of mixed-methods research. You will also have good communication, time management, planning and systems thinking skills. You will have frequent travel to Rolls-Royce’s sites in Derby and Bristol to conduct fieldwork.
