The salary will be paid at Grade 5, £27,629 to £32,004 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance.

The role of the Widening Participation Officer (Vulnerable Groups) is to lead on the department’s outreach work with vulnerable groups and manage the Realising Opportunities programme for King’s. S/he should develop on-campus activities to inform and inspire vulnerable young people and support their HE progression. The post holder will provide tailored advice and guidance to potential applicants from vulnerable groups and work closely with the Vulnerable Groups Advisor to support the transition of vulnerable students at King’s. The Officer will project manage the Realising Opportunities programme including the organisation and delivery of outreach activities, recruiting and training PhD tutors and attending regional and national Realising Opportunities meetings. The post holder will also increase the department’s work with mature learners and be responsible for contributing to the OFFA agreement.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be able to communicate complex information to a range of audiences. S/he will have experience of working with children and young people and will be able to work effectively with schools, students, academics and professional services members of staff. The appointed candidate will have good organisation skills and experience of project management.

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.
