The School of Engineering is currently recruiting to the post of Research Development Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing research-income-generating opportunities for the School of Engineering. They will assist with the development and preparation of research project bids by providing strategic input, key management information, and comprehensive advice and support to academic staff; particularly in the preparation of externally funded research proposals. The post holder will also prepare draft material to feed into policy consultation and strategic discussions, and will be a member of the School’s Research Committee.

Experience of supporting the development of funding applications, preferably aimed at a range of sponsors, is essential. The successful candidate will have an honours degree or equivalent, ideally in an Engineering or science discipline, and will have previous experience of working in a research environment, preferably in Higher Education. Highly developed IT skills with the ability to use a broad range of computerized systems and data sources to support improved communication, information and data dissemination, proposal tracking and project management relating to research funding activity is an essential criteria for the role. The ability to inspire and support academic colleagues in writing grant proposals is essential.
