University of Oxford - Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow take the lead in providing bioinformatics expertise to a multi-disciplinary team at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology by integration of complex datasets, creating mathematical/computational models, developing dynamic simulations, and performing pattern analyses of biological systems to find and apply bioinformatics solutions aiming to understand immunological processes in patients with inflammatory disorders.

You will undertake and support projects which contribute to the Arthritis Therapy Acceleration Program and help understanding of inflammatory bowel disease and other inflammatory disorders in collaboration with experimental groups at the Kennedy Institute and the Translational Gastroenterology Unit, clinicians studying disease cohorts across Immune Mediated Inflammatory Diseases and informatic researchers (for example in the fields of statistical genetics, computational/mathematical immunology and machine learning).

To be considered you should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject and significant demonstrable experience covering ability to process and analyse gene expression data sets (such as array and RNA sequencing datasets), exome and genome sequencing data, practical success in biostatistics or bioinformatics, and expertise in metabolic and computational biology.

This opportunity is funded on a full-time 2-year fixed-term contract in the first instance.

Applicants with less experience may be considered, to be appointed at Grade 7 (£31,076 - £38,183 p.a.), with the appropriate amendment to duties and responsibilities.
