Senior Lecturer in Education: Early Years

This is a part-time (0.4 fte) contract until December 2018.

You will be responsible for:

  • undertaking teaching responsibilities in the early years on the PGCE 3-7 and EYTS teacher education programmes, supervising and assessing student teachers, contributing to curriculum design and delivery, working with partnership schools, keeping up-to-date with developments in early years education and care and if appropriate contributing to master's Degree teaching and supervision.
  • the care for the pastoral needs of students including counselling, welfare and guidance.
  • managing and administer education processes including leading modules and programmes where required.
  • participating and if necessary lead on the administrative processes of the institution including committees and working groups, quality assurance procedures, and recruitment and admission of students (such as visit and open days and interviewing).
  • contributing to curriculum development work including planning, development, evaluation and updating of courses and course materials, and to supervise course provision and contribute to CPD and consultancy work.
  • the supervision and assessment of students' projects and dissertations
  • representing the institution on or to external bodies, as appropriate.
  • participating in the Personal Development and Review process and staff development activities as appropriate.
  • contributing to relevant research publications and funded research opportunities, to engage in scholarly activity (e.g. keeping up to date with developments in the discipline.

You should have:

  • good honours degree
  • a Masters' degree in a relevant academic subject, preferably either early years or Education
  • qualified Teacher Status
  • successful teaching experience in the early years 0-5
  • an excellent understanding of recent developments in the early years curriculum and their implications for teacher education
  • successful and satisfactory background check received from the Disclosure and Barring Service, after interview and before appointment.

Interviews will be held week beginning 11th September 2017.
