Transfer Research Assistant, R&D

Reports to: Scientist

Job Summary:

The position will be responsible for the technology transfer process between R&D and other departments, and will involve taking part in the validation and delivery of new products by performing routine laboratory work, while keeping accurate records. Duties include the characterization of new products and procedures using existing ISO 13485 documentation.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform effective assay and technical knowledge transfer to Quality Control and Production scientists
  • Work with the Line Manager to plan, design and execute performance qualification, method comparison and validation experiments
  • Actively participate in cross-departmental, project management meetings and R&D focus meetings
  • Provide technical support in the development of new assays and to enhance current research methodologies
  • Record assay development work for reference purposes
  • Ensure all research and development studies are compliant with current quality system (ISO 13485)
  • Keep accurate laboratory records
  • Work to ISO 13485
  • Interact with clients and customers in a professional manner
  • Participation in general laboratory meetings

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, and understanding of the science underlying the techniques and experiments.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, cooperative and reliable
  • The ability to adapt to changing demands whilst operating under pressure to deadlines
  • The ability to work accurately and with attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other scientific staff
  • The ability to work well independently, and as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain excellent laboratory records
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with an interdisciplinary group

Education and Experience:

  • A BSc or equivalent in life science
