Research Associate/Fellow in Ultra Cold Atoms & Quantum Optics (Fixed Term)

University of Nottingham - Physics & Astronomy

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out experimental research on ultra-cold atomic ensembles and their application to quantum sensing. The main project will focus on the development of guided atom interferometers for inertial sensing (acceleration/gravity and rotation). This post will contribute to research and development within the UK National Quantum Technology Hub on Sensors and Metrology.

Candidates must have a PhD, or be near completion, in physics or a related discipline, (PhD thesis must be submitted at the time of application). Candidates should ideally have a robust background in experimental cold atom physics and/or quantum optics. They should be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working in a team.

This post is offered on a full time fixed-term contract until 30th November 2019.
