Education Guidance Officer (FE)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a part-time, 2 days per week, Education Guidance Officer at the ACM Guildford campus. 

The Education Guidance Officer (FE) role is to provide educational guidance to the students on ACM’s Further Education (FE) programmes at the Guildford site. The majority of the students needing help will have an evidenced specific learning difficulty (SpLD), disability, medical condition or mental health issues. Under the Equality Act 2010, ACM must provide support for these students either on a 1:1 or small-group basis. Some students with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) will have separate funding from their local Council but the majority of students are entitled to their support being funded by the college

Main Responsibilites:

  • Student Support
  • Administration
  • Updating and Advising
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects

Person Specification:

  • An undergraduate qualification in a related subject
  • Postgraduate qualification (Level 7 qualifications) to assess students for Form 8s or their equivalent
  • Proven experience of working with students with SpLDs (inc Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ADHD)
  • Proven experience of working with students with a wide range of other disabilities including Asperger’s Syndrome, mental health issues, visual and hearing impairments
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
