Research Management & Communications Officer

The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research

Dr Jackie Beesley

The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development.  We receive generous core funding from Cancer Research UK in order to maintain our outstanding science programmes, and we have developed a reputation as a highly collaborative Institute with cutting edge technologies to support our research efforts.

An exciting new position has arisen within our Research Management team to provide a range of services, advice and support to our research scientists.

Reporting to the Senior Research Manager – Operations and Communications, the key objectives of this new role will be to help facilitate many of the Research Management team's key activities, including the organisation of scientific committees and reviews, coordination of the PhD student programme as well as reporting on research outputs. In addition, the role will provide a great opportunity to assist with, and help shape, the Institute's external communications, including its website and social media channels.

A degree in a scientific or media/communications discipline is essential as well as excellent communication skills, organisational skills and a love of writing. A good understanding of developments in the biosciences would be an advantage, as would some experience in web editing and the use of social media platforms.
