Systems Support / Developer Analyst (Web)

Cardiff University

The Cardiff University Development team is looking for a motivated, inventive developer to work on various web and integration projects.

You will be an experienced developer, comfortable writing both web applications and APIs to connect systems together efficiently. We primarily use PHP/JavaScript for the front end and Java for the back-end, but also have systems in VBA, .Net, Python, Go, Node.js and others depending on requirements - such as web applications for students, helping research projects and integrating corporate systems.

We work in an agile way, therefore experience of Scrum/ Kanban would be beneficial, and we expect knowledge of standard good practices - version control, test-driven development and documentation are required.

For a more informal look at what we do in development, please see http://blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/development/jobs/

This is an open-ended, full-time position of 35 hours per week.

Please be aware that Cardiff University reserves the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received.

Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who have the ambition to create a University which seeks to fulfil our social, cultural and economic obligation to Cardiff, Wales, and the world. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
