Executive Officer to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor

The position of Executive Officer to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor will provide support to the Principal of the University of St Andrews, Professor Sally Mapstone. You will ensure that the Principal is fully briefed for all engagements. You will conduct research on a variety of issues and subject areas, and will be required to manage special projects/initiatives. You will, on a regular basis, draft high-profile papers, speeches, reports and sensitive correspondence on behalf of the Principal. You will be expected to respond proactively to incoming business and use your initiative to maximise the Principal’s time. You will serve as a strategic liaison between the Principal and the constituencies with which she interacts. You will oversee and co-ordinate the Principal’s development and alumni relations events as well as perform your share of duties within the existing team to oversee the smooth daily operations of the Principal’s private office. You will work closely with the University's communications, external relations, and events teams to ensure a high level of coordination between the expectations of the Principal’s office and overall communications, cultivation strategies, and organisation of major University events, with a particular focus on Graduation-related events. You will be part of the Principal’s Private Office reporting daily to, and line-managed by the Executive Officer to the Principal’s Office, who has responsibility for the overall running of the Principal’s Office team.
