Graduate Networks and Internships Officer

The School of Geography and the Environment is seeking a Graduate Networks and Internships Officer to help create professional and research connections with its international alumni and to promote student internship opportunities. The School’s alumni work in major organisations (eg, World Bank, United Nations, multinational companies, national governments, NGOs, research institutes, and innovative startups). Increasing engagement with them will promote the impact of the School’s research and knowledge exchange. Promoting the work of the School’s students and providing internships aims to help them move into their chosen careers.

Working within the School’s Development and Alumni team you will be responsible for three areas: (a) supporting research on, and engagement with, 7,000+ alumni; (b) coordinating ECI’s pioneering Sustainability Internship Programme; and (c) promoting the studies and research of the School’s students. It will be of considerable value for the post-holder to have knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the School’s discipline of geography and allied environmental subjects.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education to A level standard or equivalent. You will have a high level of computer literacy including familiarity with Social Media platforms and strong organisational skills. Your experience of working with relational databases, maintaining, exporting and presenting data (Microsoft Excel) will be essential. Excellent writing skills including the ability to produce clear, concise copy for online and offline publications is also a must.

You will also be expected to be flexible and prepared to work out of regular hours occasionally.

This is a fixed-term post for 2 years in the first instance.
